MINNEAPOLIS, January 21, 2019 (PR NEWSWIRE) – ARKRAY USA, Inc. announced today the US commercial launch into the post-acute care market of Assure® Slide, a swallowing aid for people who have difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules. Assure Slide is designed to address the needs of the estimated 15-33% of long-term care residents who have some level of swallowing difficulties.1

Assure Slide is a thick, smooth gel that allows for easy swallowing of tablets and a smooth passing through the esophagus. When using Assure Slide, approximately 1 teaspoon of the gel is placed on a spoon along with one or more tablets. Assure Slide works by moistening the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat cavity—allowing tablets to easily pass through to the stomach, where the tablets can be digested and allowed to work as intended. Unlike other carriers that are used to facilitate the swallowing of tablets, Assure Slide breaks down immediately in the stomach and does not affect the absorption rate of the medication.

“The use of Assure Slide in professional healthcare environments has the potential to dramatically improve the clinical protocol when caring for people who have swallowing difficulties by helping them maintain compliance with their medication regimen,” said Jonathan Chapman, President of ARKRAY USA. “We are enthusiastic about providing this unique swallowing aid to healthcare professionals and their patients in the US.”

Assure Slide is offered in two forms; Assure Slide Zero, sugar-free, is moderately thick with a pleasant raspberry flavor and is designed for those individuals with slight to moderate swallowing issues; Assure Slide Forte is extremely thick with a pleasant vanilla flavor and is designed for those individuals with more acute swallowing difficulties.
